blog, viewing Podcasts, reading and organizing newsletters and more. The feature set
of Bloglines RSS reader is comparable to its local based software counterparts. As
for ease of use and attractiveness of layout, Bloglines soars to the front of the
pack. The service is flawless in operation and flexible enough for power users. It

virtual folder support, on the fly subscribing, subscription import, full clipping

Google Reader
The free web based Google Reader is part of Google's beta services package. At first
glance Google Reader may seem bare bones and lacking the rich feature set of other
free web based RSS feed readers. However, by digging down a little in this services
advanced feature set, you soon realize that GR has many powerful tools.
The basic reader only shows one feed line at a time and they are sorted in typical
Google fashion (please note that we have no inside knowledge of Google sorting
procedures, nor do we want to as our heads would most likely explode). For new RSS
feed users a line by line detail of items is absolutely acceptable...and in fact
preferred. For a power user, it can seen tedious. Here is where Google's advanced
features come into play.
By accessing these features a user is presented with a powerful tool set that
includes intuitive labeling that lets them group feeds with tags. This system allows
for intelligent organization of feeds. Power users will have no trouble in
understanding and using these tools and will soon realize what a useful resource
Google Reader is...and will be in the future.
Keep in mind that the service is still in beta form so if you come across something
that you want added or changed, let Google know about it. We're sure that will
appreciate the feedback.
Squeet
Squeet Reader is a free web based RSS-to-email aggregator. Are you using your email
app as an RSS feed reader? Ever wish you didn't have to have a separate inbox for
RSS feeds? Well now you don't.
Squeet delivers news headlines, blog posts, podcasts and other feeds directly
to your email programs inbox formatted as HTML links. Pretty cool huh? Just a quick
think on the possibilities using this program should give RSS feed junkies who don't
want to use separate programs the geek giddies. Now instead of cluttering up your
desktop, system tray or web browser, you can get your RSS feed fix emailed to you.
From there you can set program filters on them to your hearts content. File them,
sort them, label them...you get the idea.
Squeet can be set up to deliver feeds as individual emails or as a digest according
to your schedule. There is nothing to download when using Squeet. All that is
required is a free registration on their site. Incidentally, we recommend that you
use plain text as your format rule on Squeet feed deliveries as they are much easier
to read. If you are new to RSS feeds but already have and know how to use a local
email client, we highly recommend Squeet as there is virtually no learning curve.
