Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a small but effective free scanning software program that is super effective at finding...and removing all forms of bad stuff from your system. Here we list additional information about installing, and running Malwarebytes correctly so you will get the most out of the program. We recommend that you follow this information as closely as possible.

Please note that the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-malware should be used as an on demand scanner and not as a replacement for your front line antivirus protection. In other words, Malwarebytes should be used periodically (once or twice a month) as a second line of defense, to ensure that you are catching, and cleaning all malware forms on your system. The free version of Malwarebytes is fully functional for on demand (e.g., one time, non automatic scans). The only difference between the paid and free versions of the program is the ability to set it up to update and continuously monitor your system in the background. You may use the free version of the program indefinitely without any cost or obligations. Although Malwarebytes is easy to install and use, there are a few very specific tips to make sure you're getting the most out of the program.

How to install and use the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-malware

Download Malwarebytes Anti-malware (MBAM) and save it to your desktop, or another folder of your choice, (just remember where you saved it).
Close all programs and Windows on your computer.
Find the download and Double Click "mbam-setup.exe" to install the application. When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process. IMPORTANT: Do not make any changes to the default settings. (Malwarebytes has other powerful options that should not be turned on, unless you are a very experienced user, as they could potentially damage your system.)
IMPORTANT: When the program has finished installing, MAKE SURE a checkmark is placed next to "Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware" and "Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware", then click "Finish".
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. (Note: If you have a virus that is blocking the update, you can download and update the program manually. See http://www.malwarebytes.org/ for instructions on how to do this.
Once the program has loaded, select “Perform Quick Scan”, then click "Scan". (Only use this quick scan function when running the program). DO NOT run any other programs during the scan process.
Depending on the size of your drives, the scan may take up to 30 minutes to finish. Please be patient and allow the scan to fully finish.
When the scan is complete, click "OK", then click "Show Results" to view the results.
In the results window, make sure that everything is checked, and click "Remove Selected".
After the disinfection is completed, a text log will open in Notepad detailing all actions taken. You can either save this log (recommended until you're familiar with the program), or delete it.
You may be prompted to Restart your system. Go ahead and restart.
You may now run your system as normal.
VERY IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE you update the program each time BEFORE you run it. This will ensure you have the most up to date database as new threats are always out there!
